Vivantio Best Technology Supplier of the Year Medal Winner

Vivantio has today announced that it has been selected by the British Computer Society and Computing magazine as the runner-up medal winner in the category of Best Technology Supplier of the Year at the UK IT Industry Awards 2009.

Greg Rich, Director and co-founder of Vivantio was delighted with the result: “These awards are open to any company working in the IT industry, not just service desk vendors. So this is a great achievement for us and I want to thank everyone at Vivantio for making it happen.”

Having been shortlisted in an unprecedented four categories, a panel of industry experts from the British Computer Society and Computing magazine presented Vivantio with the runner-up medal for Best Technology Supplier of the Year at the gala awards dinner on Thursday 12 November.

The category included other well known names such as VMware, Red Hat and Citrix and the awards featured all the top names including Microsoft and Google.

Russell Wiltshire, Director and co-founder of Vivantio said: “Service desk is sometimes seen as a niche area but we’ve shown that we can hold our own with the rest of the industry. It is a sad reflection of the state of the service desk industry that we were the only service desk vendor to be nominated in any of the 25 categories.”

Both directors believe that the service desk market has become stagnant and inward looking, and the poor showing of other service desk vendors at the UK’s national awards supported by the industry’s chartered institute is a clear indication that this is the case.

Greg Rich adds: “Our aim was to shake up the service desk market and offer a true alternative to customers. We have a different business model, different values and a pioneering approach. 2009 has been our best year yet and this award shows that we’re achieving what we set out to do.”

This award follows success at the Service Desk Institute awards earlier in the year where a customer vote put Vivantio into the final shortlist for Technology Supplier of the Year. 2009 has also seen record sales and over 85% of customers selecting Vivantio’s pioneering software-as-a-service subscription model. Vivantio has also been working closely with UK Trade and Investment to launch the product in overseas markets.

Russell Wiltshire concludes: “In a few short years we’ve achieved huge success in an extremely saturated market and in one of the toughest economic environments for a long time. We’ve been successful because we’ve offered something genuinely different and put customer service at the top of the list.”
